Forty Strangers in Forty Days

Now that Easter is over most Christians will go back to their usual lives and think this is it until Christmas. Well my friends I have to say that it should not be business as usual, but we should do as Jesus commanded us before he was taken up. That is to be a witness of Him. Did you know that Jesus didn't immediately go to Heaven, but hung out with his Disciples for 40 days.

Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Therefore, I would like to challenge my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to do something different this year. I'd like us to spend the next 40 days reaching out to the lost of the world. You see Jesus commanded the Disciples and us to go out into the world and teach every nation about Him.

Matthew 28:19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Starting Monday I challenge each of you to get out of your comfort zone and speak to one stranger per day for next 40 days. They have to be someone you've never spoken to about Jesus. It can be as simple as handing them an invitation to church or really getting out of your comfort zone and tell them how they can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. How he died for their sins and that they can be free from the bondage of sin and live a new life in Him.

So folks, the gauntlet has been laid down before you, by me, but most of all by Jesus, who commanded us to be a witness for him. Will you take the challenge? Will you show Jesus to someone in the next 40 days? If you do, please share your stories on this blog or Facebook so others can be encouraged to do the same.

  1. WOW Randy, God Bless you for the truth you speak. We spoke about religion once but this just blew my mind away and shows me how much I need to work more on getting closer to God. Hope your Easter was filled with Joy and Blessings.

To add to what you said:

    John 20:21
21: Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

  2. How do you reconcile your proselytizing with Matthew 6:6?:

"But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly."

You can't. Learn. Leave people be.

  3. Dear Anonymous,

If you actually read the post you are commenting on you would have seen how I reconcile my, "Proselytizing". Jesus commanded us to be witness to him.

Acts 1:8 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Jesus spoke of the harvest of souls. And told us to get busy harvesting souls.

John 4:35 - Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold , I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Luke 10:2 - Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Matthew 9:38 - Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

He also said we are to be fishers of men.

Mark 1:17 - And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

So you see, we as Christians are commanded by Jesus to reach the lost and tell them of the good news of Jesus Christ. He loves you too.

  4. Oh, as for Matthew 6:6. Jesus was talking about getting prayers answered for our daily needs not about being a witness or see souls saved, though we should pray for that too. Please keep things in context if you are going to through darts. Peace.
