Last day...

Well, folks I got so busy I forgot to conclude my 40 strangers in 40 days postings. So this is to conclude this group of postings. I hope that is was a time of outreach for you as it was for me. Though I didn't see anyone saved I did sow seeds that I pray will reap rewards.

In conclusion we are drawn to these passages:

Acts 1:9-11.
9. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld , he was taken up ; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up , behold , two men stood by them in white apparel;
11. Which also said , Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

This is our glorious hope that Jesus will come again. That we will meet him in the air and forever we will be with the Lord.

1 Thes 4:16-18:
16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17.Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18.Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

This should keep us all smiling. And is the next in my series of posts...Are you ready?

Day 25 of 40...

Well folks the days are running out fast. Have you been doing what you can? Remember what Jesus said to his disciples.

Luke 10:2 - Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest

So folks lets be busy about the Master harvest...

Days 13 to 24 of 40...

Well, I have been out a bit with illness and not faithful to updating my posts. Hard to believe we are past the halfway point. I have had the chance to give out some tracks and invite folks to church. We shall see if that bears any fruit. Keep up the work we are almost there.

Day 12 of 40...

Well, once again still not feeling that great. Wanted to get out and enjoy the weather, but I'm still not feeling all the terrific. Soon will be better and can get back to it. Rearmed myself with tracts and I'm ready to charge. Great day at church too...

Day 11 of 40...

Well not much to report here. I've been under the weather so haven't been doing much of anything but sleeping.

Day 10 of 40...

Well here I sit another day sick. What fun...I did get to catch up on my sleep though. So, needless to say, no new encounters.

Day 9 of 40...

Well, I spent the day in bed suffering from Diverticulitis. Not a fun thing to have. Takin' my meds and stayin' in bed for the next day or so. Pray for me that I recover soon. And keep living for Jesus.

Day 8 of 40...

Had an opportunity to discuss my faith with a friend. It was a good talk. I've posted a section from our conversation below.

As you know I've never push what I believe on you or anyone I've talked with. It is a personal choice people have to make. I don't like it when someone tries to push what they believe on anyone. It just gives we Christians a bad name. That said, one side or the other is going to be right in the end. For me it works out like this. After getting saved I haven't had to give up much in the way of living my life. I do have a different out look on certain things, but all-in-all I live and let live and I am having a great time. I don't feel I've lost out on anything in my life because of my decision and in the end I have an eternal home in Heaven. And if I'm wrong, I just don't have Heaven in the end, but I did have a really good life. On the other hand, if I am right, those who choose not to believe have this life and what they can get from it and for the most part it will be good. But, their end is an eternity in Hell. Yeah I know, Hell is an offensive word, but it does exist just as much as Heaven. You can't have one without the other. That said, people are free to chose what path they want. Even God left that choice up to Adam and Eve. They ended up not choosing wisely, but God didn't jump down from Heaven and hammer them for their mistake. Instead, he made provisions for their mistake (sin) by sending Christ to make it right. Growing up my outlook on Christians was not good. I saw them as hypocrites and judgmental. If you look at the older posts on my blog you can see some of the things about that (http://ramblinrandy.blogspot.com). All I know is, on January 15, 1991 my life was changed and has never been the same. I was blind and now I see. I only tell you all this because you are a friend and I don't want you to miss out on what I have come to know. Too often people get the wrong impression of what being a Christian is all about (because of some within the faith that feel it is their duty to rub your nose in it so to speak). It isn't a bunch of rules, "don't do this and don't do that", but a personal relationship with our Creator and that is it. Accepting his gift (payment) for our mistakes (sins) is all there is to it. God wants nothing more from us than a relationship. The same as we desire from those around us. As I said earlier, "too many zealous Christians have marred this simplicity with their own warped values". If God took this same approach we'd all be fried by lightning :). But, alas, He is merciful and long suffering and cares for us in ways we can't begin to understand. Well, I have run on long enough and don't want to sound like I'm preaching at you. Talk at you later.

I hope this was a blessing to you as you talk with folks about Jesus.

Day 7 of 40...

Nothing much to report other than this passage of scripture. Keep looking for opportunities to witness. The field is white unto harvest.

Phl 4:13 -  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Day 6 of 40...

Man am I slacking...I forgot to post the other day so here goes. I had a great day in church and the sermon on forgiveness and restoration was outstanding. Anyway, I didn't have an opportunity to talk with anyone about Jesus, but never fear one will cross my path.

Day 5 of 40...

Didn't talk to anyone today. Took the kids swimming. Saw a woman nearly drown, made me think about needing to tell people about getting saved. The lady turned out okay.

Day 4 of 40...

Was a good day. Was able to talk a little with someone, but they weren't exactly a stranger. But a good witness none the less.

Day 3 of 40...

Well, folks here we are on day 3. Not much to report. Once again I need be more mindful of others. I do need to get with Pastor and get some tracts to hand out. It would be nice to have something to hand them in case they don't have the time right then and there to talk. At least they could later read the tract and get directions to the church. Pastor.....?

Day 2 of 40...

Well, it is day 2 of 40. How did your search for lost souls go today? I must confess I didn't strike up a conversation with anyone I saw at the mall. Sad part is I didn't really think of it until I got home, I was too involved in spending time with my daughters.

That is a sad commentary on my part. I know Jesus said we are to love him more than anything else in the world, but alas we are frail in our human condition and fall short of that all too often. May we, I, be more conscience of those around us as we go about our day.

Brandon Heath says it best in his song, "Give Me Your Eyes "
Oh, that we would take this song to heart.

Day 1 of 40

Well, it is the end of day one. How did you do in your challenge. I must confess I didn't get to interact with any strangers today, but I do need gas tomorrow so look out attendants. Well, we must not give up just because we missed a day.

Forty Strangers in Forty Days

Now that Easter is over most Christians will go back to their usual lives and think this is it until Christmas. Well my friends I have to say that it should not be business as usual, but we should do as Jesus commanded us before he was taken up. That is to be a witness of Him. Did you know that Jesus didn't immediately go to Heaven, but hung out with his Disciples for 40 days.

Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Therefore, I would like to challenge my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to do something different this year. I'd like us to spend the next 40 days reaching out to the lost of the world. You see Jesus commanded the Disciples and us to go out into the world and teach every nation about Him.

Matthew 28:19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Starting Monday I challenge each of you to get out of your comfort zone and speak to one stranger per day for next 40 days. They have to be someone you've never spoken to about Jesus. It can be as simple as handing them an invitation to church or really getting out of your comfort zone and tell them how they can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. How he died for their sins and that they can be free from the bondage of sin and live a new life in Him.

So folks, the gauntlet has been laid down before you, by me, but most of all by Jesus, who commanded us to be a witness for him. Will you take the challenge? Will you show Jesus to someone in the next 40 days? If you do, please share your stories on this blog or Facebook so others can be encouraged to do the same.
